Vietnam Maritime Bank (MSB), a joint stock commercial bank of Vietnam, was established in 1991 and current chapter capital is VND 1,500 billion. At the beginning time, its operation mainly supported for enterprises in maritime industry. Its equities were small and its products were poor with backward banking technologies. However, with current competitive environment, increasingly loans, development of Vietnam after joining WTO, training creditors, credit activities in MSB need to be improved, especially medium-and long term project lending activities.

This research firstly revises theoretical of credit activities and especially medium- and long term lending, one of credit forms is accountable for a large volume. In Chapter 3, the thesis overviewed MSB and then analyzed main factors which affect medium-and long term project lending activities in period of 2005-2007. The thesis analyze internal factors such as credit policies, human resource, credit process, business strategies, capital and finance…and external factors such as economic, legal, customer, technology factors…Besides, the thesis summarized activities of medium-and long term project lending in MSB, evaluation from customers’ side and evaluation from credit experts’ side.

To analyze factors which affect medium-and long term project lending activities, the author used both secondary data and primary data. The author collected data from bank’s financial reports, legal documents, textbooks and internet…the author also collected data from in-depth interviews with customers and credit experts. After collecting data, the author summarized them and analyzed to improve medium-and long term project lending activities in MSB.
