Ethics and Sex presents a systematic study of the nature and moral significance of human sexuality and of the major issues in sexual morality. The book is divided into two main parts. Part One gives a critical analysis of the key conceptions of human sexuality: the view of sex as bound up with procreation and marriage the romantic approach to sex the understanding of sex as body language the hedonist or "plain" sex view the traditional distinction between natural and unnatural sex and the notion of sexual perversionPart Two discusses the most important issues in sexual morality: monogamy adultery prostitution homosexuality pedophilia sexual harassment rapeIn this stimulating and often controversial book, the author argues for a "plainer" sex view and demonstrates that many of the prohibi-tions that make up the conventional sexual morality cannot withstand critical scrutiny and should be rejected. He claims that there are no sexual ethics, since sex has no particular moral significance. The AuthorIgor Primoratz is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is the author of Justifying Legal Punishment (1989 and 1997) and the editor of Human Sexuality (1997)..
